ENI inaugurates the Karachaganak processing center in Kazakhstan
  On the 1st of August 2003 Vittorio Mincato, ENI managing director, inaugurated the Karachaganak processing center in Aksai, with the presence of the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev. It is the biggest plant for the treatment of oil ever realized, with an investment of 3.7 billion of dollars. The plant required three years to be completed and can treat up to 96 million barrels of oil and up to 14.5 billion cubic meters of methane per year. Participating companies include, ENI, BG Group, Chevron-Texaco and Lukoil. Skema supplied for the Karachaganak Project a series of packaged electrical MV/LV substations and electrical switchboards, consisting of both Power Centers and Motor Control Centers. In particuolar: 526 LV columns (370 intelligent MCC and 156 Power Centers, for a total of 2.492 drawers) and 158 MV cells. Skema was also responsible for the development of the Electrical Control System, designed with particular attention to the safety and availability of the data. The lead-time of the job was only 22 weeks. Skema is currently providing assistance in the installation and commissioning for Karachaganak including the presence of onsite engineers, assuring that the best qualified support and service are available for its clients.
